Kate Hudson is speaking out in response to the backlash her movie Music, directed by Sia, has received for its portrayal of autism.
The 41-year-old actress, who received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the film, discussed the controversy while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday (February 19). “I think when people see the film, they will see the amount of love and sensitivity that was put into it,” Kate said. “It is an important conversation to have and it’s not just about this movie, but as a whole, about representation.
For me, when I hear that there’s anybody that feels left out I feel terrible.” There has been controversy over Maddie Ziegler being cast as a nonverbal autistic woman as she’s a neurotypical actress.
