Jimmy Savile is buried and what happened to his gravestone after it was taken down.Jimmy Savile is one of the nation's worst-ever serial sex offenders and, after his death, his headstone was removed due to his vile crimes coming to light.There is a new Netflix docu-series titled Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story which can be streamed from April 6 and highlights how he managed to escape justice.The paedophile is thought to have preyed on around 500 victims - some as young as just two years old - as well as ill patients who were receiving treatment at Broadmoor Hospital.At the hospital, one former nurse told Savile case investigators that he performed sex acts on corpses and "mucked about" in the morgue.But what happened to Jimmy Savile's gravestone once people knew the vile truth?After his crimes came to light, his family removed it "out of respect to public opinion".People had lined the streets for his funeral at Leeds Cathedral when he died aged 84 in October 2011, however the public soon changed their tack.The headstone had cost around £4,000 and was removed in the middle of the night back in 2012, overseen by an operation funeral director called Robert Morphet.Jimmy's headstone had "it was good while it lasted" scribed onto it and was then sent to a landfill site.Talking about Jimmy's headstone, Morphet said: "The grave will now be ground down so the inscription is totally wiped and will be destroyed.
