It was written and recorded by the three founding members Jemina Pearl Abegg (vocals), Jonas Stein (Guitar), Nathan Vasquez (bass), and longtime drummer John Eatherly.Abegg said in a statement: “’Hand Grenade’ started out as a threat to the people who harmed me, that I will make them suffer as I have suffered, but the song grew like a mirror to my own grief process, through anger, denial, sorrow.

Be Your Own Pet has spoken to NME about getting the band back together again after 13 years apart, the real reasons behind their split, and the downside of indie rock’s heydey.Last week, the indie-garage punks announced they’d be playing two gigs, opening for Jack White’s ‘The Supply Chain Issue Tour’. It will be the first time the Nashville quartet takes the stage together since their split in 2008.“If Jack White offers for you to open for him, you don’t really say no to that,” Pearl told NME.

Be Your Own Pet have reformed for their first live performances since breaking up in 2008.The influential indie-garage band have reunited for North American support slots on Jack White’s freshly announced ‘The Supply Chain Issue Tour’.In addition to to appearing on the bill for one of White’s shows at Atlanta’s The Tabernacle (April 28), the band will also support the former White Stripes frontman at Ascend Amphitheater in their shared home base of Nashville on April 30.Singer Jemina Pearl said of her band’s reformation: “I’ve had a Be Your Own Pet sized hole in my heart for the past 14 years. We shared something life-changing together, so to get to go back and do it again as adults feels like coming home.”“We are here to have fun and enjoy the good times,” added guitarist Jonas Stein.
