Jesse Williams stunned many of the loyal Grey's Anatomy fans last year when it was announced he would be leaving the longtime hit medical drama.It turns out, after playing Dr. Jackson Avery over the course of 12 seasons, Williams had increasingly felt 'safe, protected and insulated' on the show, and that a change was needed in order to move forward creatively and professionally.'I knew that as I designed my exit, the next thing I did had to be terrifying,' the Chicago native, 41, explained during an interview with The New York Times.
