Lara Croft writer tried ‘so hard’ to make iconic action character gay
Lara Croft: Inferno comic book writer Jackson Lanzing has said he ‘tried so hard’ to make the character’s gayness ‘canon’.Fans have often believed the iconic Tomb Raider heroine – portrayed on-screen by Angelina Jolie and later Alicia Vikander – to be gay or bisexual.However, Lara’s sexuality has only ever been hinted at in the stories, which originated with the video game series in 1996.On Twitter, Jackson replied to a follower who mused: ‘I was replaying the first of the new Tomb Raider trilogy (love that series) and you cannot convince me that Lara and Sam [Nishimura, Lara’s best friend] aren’t 10000% gay for each other. It’s not even subtext.’To this, Jackson wrote earlier this week: ‘Gail, we tried so hard to make it canon.
