It made me wonder: are these scents ageing these dynamic, vibrant women?“Think of wearing an old perfume like refusing to let a jacket go and wearing it for decades,” says leading British perfumer Roja Dove, whose nose has been sniffing – and constructing – scents for some 40 years. “When the jacket eventually comes back into style, it may look the same, but it may not suit you any more.
The same can happen to your perfume,” he says.For Linda Pilkington, founder of perfumery Ormonde Jayne, wearing an overly familiar perfume no longer translates to elegance or status.
Instead, the secret to smelling great, if not necessarily youthful, is to pick a scent that is a variation or two removed from your usual.
