The actor has most recently been taking up airtime as Joe Goldberg in the Netflix hit - which is a far cry from the American teen romantic comedy.
Penn, now 34-years-old, starred alongside Brittany Snow, singer Ashanti and Jesse Metcalfe, who was the titular John Tucker.
Penn played the the role of Scott Tucker, the underdog to the heartthrob of the 2006 film. Here his youthful looks were teamed with his dark curly hair, reaching towards his shoulders.
