Laura Dawber married into a foster caring family. Her mother-in-law had been a foster carer for about 35 years when Laura and her husband Howard decided to start fostering themselves.
They became long-term foster carers in 2013. Now the 49-year-old from Stockport is fostering two teenage sisters and another older child and is encouraging others to do the same.
Teens can receive some bad press which they don't deserve. Like any child, they need someone who is able to listen, has a lot of love, and is willing to be their support as they navigate one of the most crucial developmental times in their life.
Some of the benefits of fostering older children are that they often settle into their new surroundings quicker, they can be more independent
