TV’s Clare Balding sparked guffaws after she told gold medal-winning British swimmer Matt Richards that his “third leg was just phenomenal.” The BBC Olympics presenter was interviewing the 18-year-old alongside team-mate Tom Dean after they triumphed for Team GB in the 4x200m freestyle at the Tokyo Games.

The pair struggled to keep straight faces after Balding’s unwitting double entendre. But it isn’t the first balls-up from the world of sport.
