Women are being urgently advised not to insert ice lollies into their vaginas as a cooling device amid soaring temperatures.
Medical expert Dr Sarah Welsh has issued a warning that women who use iced devices to cool off their intimate area risk damaging the skin and causing infections.
Dr Welsh – who graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in medicine before getting a diploma in medicine from Durham – also says sugars found in lollies would risk upsetting the delicate PH balance of the vagina.
