Woman rescued after falling head first into toilet while trying to retrieve phone

outdoor toilet while trying to retrieve the phone she had dropped.The woman, who was not named, was at the top of Mount Walker in the Olympic National Forest, northwest of Seattle, Washington State, when she dropped the device into human waste.Brinnon Fire Department Chief Tim Manly said the woman, aged in her 40s, managed to take the toilet seat off and used dog leads to try and get the phone.When this method failed, the determined woman used the leads to tie herself to the toilet as she reached for it, but she then fell in to the pit-like toilet headfirst.Mr Manly said: "They didn't work very well and in she went."She tried to escape the toilet, effectively a large pit in the ground with no flush system, for 15 minutes before using the phone to call for help.

Firefighters passed her blocks to stand on to reach a harness when they arrived and pulled her out of the vault.For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here.The Brinnon Fire Department added she said she was uninjured in Tuesday's incident.After being washed down, the department said she was "strongly encouraged to seek medical attention after being exposed to human waste, but she only wanted to leave".Mr Manly said: "I've been doing this for 40 years, and that was a first.".
