The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court after being convicted by a jury of inflicting grievous bodily harm on the youngster on May 3, 2018.
She was handed a 22-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. Parents of the child left the woman, who has learning difficulties, caring for the teething baby for six hours.
Until her assault, the little boy had been in normal health, but his skull was fractured, he suffered a bleed on the brain and he now suffers from epilepsy and cerebral palsy,
