Daily Star's biggest headlines straight to your inbox!A woman has been diagnosed with pneumonic plague, a very rare disease that health authorities believe she caught from her pet cats, according to news reports.The "rare but serious" case of plague in a person living in Fremont County, Wyoming, was announced by health officials on September 15th.An official statement from the Wyoming Department of Health describes the person contracting the disease through "contact with sick pet cats".Plague is caused by the bacterium Yersinia Pestis and is most notoriously known as the 'Black Death' which spread across Europe in the 1300's.
