William Shatner is making history! With the launch of Jeff Bezos‘ Blue Origin space shuttle on Wednesday morning (October 13), the 90-year-old Star Trek actor became the oldest person in history to go to space, per Variety. Click inside to find out more… Also aboard the flight were former NASA engineer Chris Boshuizen, co-founder of Medidata Glen de Vries, and Audrey Power, Blue Origin’s vice president of mission and flight operations.
It was originally scheduled to take off on Tuesday, but was delayed due to bad weather and strong winds. The shuttle lifted off in Texas, taking everyone 62 miles above the Earth’s surface and out past the Karman line, which is the boundary between the Earth’s atmosphere and outer space.
