Wigan Warriors have fined Tony Clubb two weeks’ wages after the prop was hit with an eight-match ban following his racial abuse of Hull’ FCs Andre Savelio - but they have allowed Clubb to return to first-team training while he serves his ban, after lifting his internal suspension.
Clubb was suspended on Tuesday evening after an independent tribunal found him guilty of racist abuse towards Savelio, who made a complaint to the match official during the Warriors’ game with Hull FC last weekend that Clubb called him a “stupid Polynesian c**t”.
Wigan have now responded with their own statement, saying the severity of the incident warrants further internal punishment, hitting Clubb with a fine of two weeks’ salary, which they say will be put
