Wigan Warriors head coach Adrian Lam has backed John Bateman to recapture his best form as he prepares to return from injury this weekend.
The former Bradford Bulls and Canberra Raiders second-rower has not played since sustaining an ankle injury during England’s mid-season international against the Combined Nations All Stars on June 25.
Bateman proved himself one of the best players in the world during his two years down under but, since returning to Wigan during the off-season, he has yet to scale the heights he has hit previously.
Now, though, as the Yorkshireman makes his comeback in Sunday’s home clash with Leigh Centurions, he has been given a ringing endorsement by his head coach. “John will come into contention this weekend,” said
