What is the proper way to cleanse your skin is one of the questions I get asked the most, especially in summer when a healthy glow is a part of the uniform.
There’s not a single answer as everyone has different skin needs, but I do know from the dermatologists that I speak to that cleansing improperly is one of the biggest reasons why your skincare might not be working. The first thing to remember is that if you wear make-up you will need to remove this before your basic cleanse.
I like to dissolve make-up, including stubborn waterproof mascara, with an oil-based cleanser, which loosens surface dirt and make-up with a little massage.
Besides this is the most pleasurable part of my entire skincare routine as it takes the most time and encourages me to use my fingers to massage my face and get the blood flowing. To take it off, I favour a steamy hot flannel or a splash of warm water, which avoids the need for cotton pads and unnecessary rubbing over the delicate eye area.
