Rising Damp followed the lives of a self-centered landlord and his unfortunate tenants in a rundown Victorian townhouse.The beloved British sitcom, written by Eric Chappell, first aired on our TV screens back in 1974 and was adapted from his 1973 stage play called The Banana box.The popular ITV comedy was set in Yorkshire (most likely Leeds) and ran for four years until its final episode on 8 May 1978.However, after this the tenant-based sitcom was then revived when it was adapted into a feature film in 1980.This week marks almost 42 years since to mark the occasion.
