England’s friendly against Wales on Thursday not only marks the Three Lions’ first match at Wembley in 2020, but also the first for ITV’s new main commentator.
Earlier this year, the broadcaster announced that Sam Matterface would replace veteran Clive Tyldesley as its first choice behind the microphone.
Co-commentator Glenn Hoddle has also been stood down from England games. Matterface will be no stranger to the ears of football fans; he has commentated for talkSPORT since 2011 and for ITV at major tournaments, including the 2018 World Cup.
