WhatsApp down as users unable to send and receive messages or login

WhatsApp is causing problems for thousands of users across the UK, with complaints being made that the app is not sending messages or allowing logins.Since 8.32am on Tuesday morning, over 68,000 complaints have come in to Down Detector, which globally monitors outages for online services.According to the website, 63 per cent of those having problems say they are unable to send messages, while 33 per cent say they are having issues connecting with the server.

Down Detector has revealed that the problem is UK wide, with Glasgow, Brighton, Nottingham and Birmingham reporting difficulties.

Large cities of London, Manchester and Cardiff are reporting issues, reports the Mirror.Many took to Twitter to say they were unable to send or receive messages.

It is unclear what the issue is and what has caused it, but users started noticing things weren't right at about 8am.One wrote: "When your WhatsApp is playing up but you come to Twitter and see that everyone else is having the same problem #WhatsAppDown.The app is allowing users to type messages to friends and hit send but the message isn't getting delivered.
