He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

The Prime Minister will provide an update on the pandemic and announce the long-awaited decision on the June 21 lockdown easement.

Reports suggest Mr Johnson will announce that the final lifting of lockdown restrictions will be delayed by four weeks amid the rapid spread of the Delta variant.

However it is currently unclear what, if any, exceptions will apply. The move would mean extending the lockdown roadmap to July 19, with the BBC reporting early on Monday the decision had been signed off by senior ministers.
