Sign up to FREE email alerts from the Northern Agenda Voters in West Yorkshire have elected their first Regional Mayor in the 2021 elections.
The newly-established West Yorkshire Mayor will be responsible for the metropolitan county of West Yorkshire, and will chair and lead the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
Voters in Leeds, Wakefield, Kirklees, Calderdale and Bradford took to the polls to cast their ballots on Thursday, May 6. Prior to the election, the Labour Party had control of all five boroughs of the city-region, but the party lost four seats in West Yorkshire to the Conservative Party in the 2019 general election.
