Afolayan has completed a successful loan spell at Wanderers which was topped off with securing automatic promotion to League One.
He played 21 times for Bolton after arriving on loan in the January transfer window and became a first choice in attack for Ian Evatt, finally scoring his first goal for Wanderers on the final day of the season in a 4-1 victory on the road against Crawley Town.
