After weeks of speculation, His Royal Highness has now set the record straight and shut down rumours once and for all, telling PEOPLE: ‘She didn’t leave Monaco in a huff.’ Albert explained that his wife travelled to South Africa ‘to reassess her Foundation’s work’ and spend some time with friends and family, with the visit turning into an extended stay because of ‘medical complications’.
Charlene, who is a former Olympic swimmer, developed an ENT sphere infection in May suffering from complications of the illness that affects the ear, nose, and throat.
