Darina Allen has come under fire for continuing to holding cookery classes in their renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School. However, the Irish chef has defended the decision to go ahead with these in-person classes.
It has emerged that nine students from America, The Netherlands and the UK were attending these classes. The country is currently in Level 5 restrictions meaning all non-essential businesses must remain closed. ‘We felt we had a strong responsibility to them and that we did the right thing,’ Darina told The Irish Examiner.
She explained that the students took precautions and quarantined for two weeks in December. The students were offered the opportunity to join the ‘Ballymaloe Bubble’ after their 14-day quarantine.
