Highways bosses have issued an urgent warning over possible '70 mph crosswinds' on the region's motorways as Storm Arwen hits the north west.
National Highways is urging all drivers to take care and be prepared as a result. They said Storm Arwen was likely to bring 'very strong winds' across parts of north west England from 11pm tonight into Saturday morning.
Closures could be put in place as a result, with National Highways saying there's a 'particular risk' to lorries, caravans and motorbikes.
