Virgil van Dijk is "going through hell" as he recovers from injury, according to Liverpool teammate Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutchman is likely to be out for the remainder of the season after being crocked by Jordan Pickford in the Merseyside derby.
He ruptured knee ligament damage, which is among one of the worse injuries to sustain as a footballer. The recovery period is usually at least 12-14 months - but can be longer in some cases.
It means it will be heavily unlikely Liverpool will be able to call upon his services this season. But the centre-back has undergone successful surgery and is now in the process of recovery.
