Violent Scots killer caged for life after river death of vulnerable young man

Sebastian Smith, from Hawick, who was previously known as Luke Greenland, was found guilty of killing tragic Joe Pooley in August 2018 and must now serve a minimum of 21 years behind bars.

The 35-year-old and his two co-defendants, Becki West-Davidson and Sean Palmer, were charged by police after the young man’s body was pulled from the River Gripping in Suffolk.

Detectives found that the 22-year-old had been unlawfully killed in the early hours of August 7 and that his likely cause of death was immersion in water.The tragic victim, who needed the help of adult social care, had slept with West-Davidson who then “stoked up.
