Hundreds of women welcomed their babies alone in hospitals around Ireland, due to COVID-19 restrictions over the past 18 months.
From 20-week scans to labour, and unfortunately for many, the trauma of receiving devastating news, all had to happen alone.
It’s been one of the most heartbreaking parts of the restrictions, and the anger felt by so many has been aggravated by RTÉ’s The Rotunda returning to our screens.
Viewers questioned why a camera crew was allowed into the maternity wards, but partners were not. In fact, some people took to Twitter to say that the show had ‘retraumatised’ them as they remembered going through labour by themselves.
