Cervical cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan has opened up about how her struggles with her weight, were, unbeknownst to her, directly related to her growing cancer.

The mum-of-two recalled how prior to becoming ill, she had the usual ‘gripes and hangups’ most women have about their bodies.

While she loved running and keeping fit, Vicky noticed a change in her body after she welcomed her second child, her son Darragh.

Specifically, the Limerick native began experiencing stitches that made it hard for her to keep up running as it wasn’t enjoyable any more.
