Brave vets put their arms down the mouth of a 10.5ft-long Nile crocodile to recover a shoe it had swallowed. The 341-pound reptile ate the footwear after it fell from a zipliner passing overhead at the St Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park, near Jacksonville, Florida.

A team at the University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals then began the unusual task of recovering the footwear on February 5.
