Vernon Kay’s Saturday night show Game of Talents has been axed.Execs have pulled it after just one series on ITV.A spokesman for the show told website TVZone: “There are no current plans for future series.”Game of Talents replaced Britain’s Got Talent in the schedule last spring and was tipped to be a big hit.But it was beaten in the ratings by BBC One’s I Can See Your Voice.Last year ITV chief Katie Radcliffe insisted it is always a big decision to axe a show. She said: “We don’t take any of those decisions lightly for those reasons, and we don’t like to rush them.”Game of Talents marked Vernon’s big return to primetime telly after his success on I’m A Celebrity.Insiders hoped it would cement his place as one of TV’s most popular presenters. But when it launched, Vernon insisted he didn’t feel pressure for it to be a big hit.He said: “There's no pressure for me, because I didn't commission this show.
They've given me the keys and I'm just driving it.”While Game of Thrones has been ditched, rival show I Can See Your Voice has been commissioned for a second series. It will be back on screens later this year with Alison Hammond, Amanda Holden and Jimmy Carr all back. The guessing game is a ratings hit for the BBC and even Amanda is amazed at how successful it has been. She said: “The response to series one was completely overwhelming and unexpected.
So many young people I work with were glued to the show every week.”Vernon was a fan favourite when he formerly hosted ITV’s Family Fortunes. The popular ITV game show is now hosted by chef and television personality Gino D’Acampo.
Families are given the chance to win a £30,000 jackpot prize. The new Family Fortunes keeps the main game features of the original, with the chance to win.
