Upstairs, Downstairs star Nicola Pagett had died at the age of 75. The Guardian reports the actress passed away ‘suddenly’ on 3 March after ‘stoically’ battling a brain tumour.

The British star is best known for her role of Elizabeth Bellamy in the 1970’s telly hit Upstairs, Downstairs where she played the spoiled daughter of Richard and Lady Marjorie.

In the series, which ran for five seasons, Nicola’s character married poet Lawrence Kirbridge but ended up having an affair with his publisher and falling pregnant with his child.

The actress previously said the beauty of working on the award-winning show was that the whole cast were treated as equals. ‘The product was more important than the people in it in those days.
