Newcastle United are lining up former Arsenal boss Unai Emery to replace Steve Bruce as manager, as the new ownership close in on a first appointment since taking charge at St.
James' Park.The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund completed a £300m takeover of the northeast club in October, ending an 18-month saga after initial approaches were made in April 2020.Bruce remained in charge for the first fixture under the new consortium, overseeing a 3-2 defeat to Tottenham in his 1000th game in management before being dismissed a few days later.Graeme Jones has since been appointed as interim manager, but results have not improved.
