Ukrainian refugee has insisted she is not to blame after a man left the mother of his two children to be with her.Sofiia Karkadym, 22, is now in a relationship with Tony Garnett, 29, who left his wife Lorna just 10 days after welcoming her into their family home.IT worker Sofiia initially signed up for the UK government's scheme to help rehome people fleeing the war in Ukraine, but became frustrated by the convoluted process and reached out for help on social media.Tony, a security guard from Bradford in West Yorkshire, offered to become Sofiia's sponsor in the UK.Some 10 days after she moved in the pair ended up absconding to start a new life together after Lorna, 28, accused Sofiia of trying to steal her man.But Sofiia is adamant that she is not a homewrecker and says Lorna is at fault for the couple's break-up.
She told The Sun: “I am not a homewrecker. I never thought or planned to go into their home and take Tony from Lorna.“That never crossed my mind.
I liked the family. I spent a lot of time with Lorna and I tried to help her. But she was two-faced.“Her constant suspicions, the tension, it just pushed me and Tony closer together.
She created this situation by constantly suggesting something was going on when it wasn’t. So this is her fault.”Sofiia, who fled Lviv in her war-torn country, encouraged other UK families not to be deterred from opening up their homes to refugees from Ukraine and added that, in her opinion, the relationship between Tony and Lorna had already been destroyed before she got to the UK.She said that it was her decision to leave the couple's home and Tony chose to follow her out the door.To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here..
