snow will fall in Britain for the first time this autumn — and it's sooner than many will have expected. Arctic weather approaching from the north and replacing the current warmer air means we could be seeing snow on the ground as early as next Thursday (October 21), according to WXCharts.
Snowfall of up to 1.5 cm is expected to descend upon the Highlands of northern Scotland that evening, meaning a possible covering to start the next day.Throughout the night this level could rise by another 1cm, depending on the level of snowfall and how much settles.Elsewhere in the UK, temperatures are expected to plummet to a blistering -3C by the end of next week.
