Flood alerts are in place with parts of Britain set to see up to 100mm of rain on Tuesday - with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning.
By the end of the week, the UK is expected to be basking in highs of 36C, but before that the outlook is very unsettled. Met Office forecaster Alex Deakin said the weather "splits into two" today, with heavy rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland, but fine and dry conditions with a peak of 25C in the south of England.
