UK vaccine success as only 1% of hospitalised Covid patients had been given jab

Just 1% of Brits hospitalised with Covid had received a vaccine at least three weeks earlier in the latest evidence confirming how well jabs work.

The country’s most robust real-world data to date has been obtained from 52,280 patients who were admitted to hospital from December 8 when the UK began its mass vaccination rollout.

By April 10 just 526 of hospitalised patients had received the first dose at least 21 days before. It comes amid reports that people in their 30s are set to be called up for a Covid-19 vaccine in the next fortnight as the rollout speeds up during May.
