About 60 per cent of black people over 70 have been vaccinated compared to 75 per cent for South Asians and 90 per cent of white people, according to the latest NHS figures.
The lower rate of vaccination is partly down to practical matters, such as the greater difficulty of lower income groups – who are disproportionately from BAME backgrounds – in getting to vaccination centres.
