coronavirus infections have shot up to 22, 961 after Public Health England admitted to missing 15,481 cases. In last week's daily reports, thousands of cases were missed off the official statistics.The body has said the wrong data was due to a "technical issue" which resulted in cases not being reported.Cases from September 25 to October 2 were not included in the daily totals.The current number of coronavirus cases in the UK now stands at half a million.It has been reported 4,786 cases which were due to be reported on October 2 were not included in the daily total on the dashboard that day when the figure was given as 6,968.Michael Brodie, the interim chief executive at Public Health England, said: "A technical issue was identified.
