Uber Eats drive in the US is being sought after by police after he allegedly stole a woman’s puppy to return it just days later. The male driver is accused of stealing six-month-old Ella, a Cocker Spaniel Poodle mix, after he dropped off a pizza delivery in Brooklyn, New York.Owner Melanie Polanco realised her dog was missing and saw the driver take her dog with him on CCTV footage.Ella had sneaked out of the apartment when she briefly left the door ajar but it was too late by the time she noticed the puppy had gone.Ms Polanco spoke to local news outlet WPIX-TV on Monday and the driver is said then to have seen himself on the news committing the theft. She was shocked the following morning after the driver, who identified himself as Michael, called her to say he “didn’t steal the dog”.He told Ms Polanco that she believed Ella was lost and took her to a neighbour. However, footage does not collaborate his alleged story as it shows Ella being taken to his vehicle.Ms Polanco told him that she just wanted her dog back as she was “worried” about her.The same day at around 12.15pm, police were waiting as a man showed up with Ella but he told officers he was just paid to bring the dog back.Speaking to the New York Post, Ms Polanco said: “I got my baby back.

I’m happy, the family’s happy, we all got our family member back. You know, she’s our baby. She’s the youngest one, six months.”She added that her hope was for the alleged dog-napper to be found.Police are continuing their search for the diver with wanted posters reportedly being printed to help find the suspect. For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here.A spokeswoman for Uber told the New York.
