Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

Neil Lennon resigned as Celtic manager on Wednesday, with the Parkhead side currently 18 points behind rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League in the second qualifying round back in August when they were beaten 2-1 by Hungarian side Ferencváros and their Europa League campaign was also a disaster.They won just one of their group stage fixtures and finished bottom of a group which contained AC Milan, Lille and Sparta Prague.Coupled with Celtic's poor attempt to defend their league title, Lennon's departure seemed inevitable and it has been claimed that club were looking at potential replacements back in autumn.The Athletic are reporting that Celtic approached former bosses Martin O'Neill.
