Twitter down for thousands of UK users as people fume over outage

Twitter has crashed for thousands of Brits according to a website that monitors social media outages. Downdetector recorded a spike of 1,344 outages at 6:32pm on Wednesday and continued to surge before 7pm.An incident is only reported by Downdetector when the number of problem reports is significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day.Despite the issues social media users were still able to tweet their confusion at Twitter not being fully operational for them.

Someone tweeted at 6.55pm: "My Twitter is glitching so bad me thinks she’s abt to go down."Dozens more took to the microblogging site to simply beg the question: "Twitter down?"Of all the reported problems with Twitter on Wednesday evening, Downdetector noted that 57% were with the app, 39% with the website and 4% the feed.Under the hashtag TwitterDown are GIFs, memes and chaotic videos laughing at the idea of people heading to Twitter to check whether it has crashed for them.
