Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani should be banned for longer than three games after using racist language on social media, says Troy Deeney.
Cavani, whose two goals inspired United’s dramatic comeback victory away at Southampton on Sunday, could miss their next few domestic fixtures after producing the offensive post - which was later deleted.
The Uruguay international wrote “gracias negrito!” to a friend after his heroic performance for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ’s side at the weekend.
His compatriot Luis Suarez received an eight-game ban for directing the same term towards United’s Patrice Evra in 2011, despite the ex- Liverpool striker arguing it is used endearingly in South America.
