Monklands residents will be invited for immunisation appointments at Ravenscraig sports centre in Motherwell.The current vaccine hub at Sir John Wilson town hall on Stirling Street will no longer be used as the programme enters its next phase; while the facility at the Time Capsule in Coatbridge will be retained but only for rescheduled appointments, and patients are warned that “there will be a wait for these”.NHS Lanarkshire say the move means residents will be able to receive their vaccine sooner than under the previous local multi-centre model of clinics, with the new system allowing a quick response to changes in vaccine supply; and insist local provision is being retained, including through mobile units to serve more rural areas.
