BBC’s new Sunday night drama, Ridley Road. Ahead of its release, the star has opened to Express.co.uk and other outlets about why she took the role, the show’s important message and the anti-Semitic abuse she herself has previously received.Ridley Road begins on the BBC this weekend as the broadcaster’s big new drama.Based on Jo Bloom’s book, the series follows a young Jewish woman named Vivien Epstein (played by Agnes O’Casey).In the four-part series, she works with the anti-fascism 62 Group to infiltrate a far-right organisation.Written by Sarah Solemani, the series set in the 1960s looks at contemporary issues, which many of the cast think have modern-day parallels.Oberman, who plays 62 Group member Nancy, recently shared some insight.
