Court in Livingston at the end of a six day trial. His alleged victim, now aged 59, claimed in evidence that Linton had raped and sexually abused her for almost 18 months after she hired him to work on her farm.
She said he subjected her to physical assaults and verbal abuse calling her: ‘Granny’; ‘The bearded lady’, and comparing her to the comedy character ‘Isa’ from ‘ Still Game ’.
Linton, 28, claimed the name-calling was joking banter, not abusive and insisted that the sexual relationship he had with the woman had been consensual.Summing up, Linton’s defence counsel Sarah Livingstone cast doubt on the woman’s claims that Linton had started the sexual relationship so he could blackmail her into handing her farm over to him by threatening.
