Toto Wolff’s plea for a rules tweak to help rid F1 cars of their aggressive porpoising has been dismissed as a ‘political game’ by former world champion Jacques Villeneuve.

Mercedes have been badly affected by the vicious bouncing that cars have suffered when travelling at high speeds since one of the biggest technical overhauls in the sport’s history for 2022.

The effects over a race distance left Lewis Hamilton struggling to get out of his car following his fourth-place finish at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

He was initially a doubt for this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix with a back injury, but the seven-time world champion has confirmed he will be in action in Montreal.
