Ministers are "driving a horse and cart" through promises to the world's poorest with foreign aid cuts that could lead to 100,000 preventable deaths, the Foreign Secretary was warned.
Dominic Raab faced an onslaught of criticism from Tory MPs in the Commons over plans to shrink overseas aid to 0.5% of national income next year.
Tory former international development secretary Andrew Mitchell said 100,000 children would die from preventable diseases, with two million people - mainly children - to suffer malnutrition and starvation if £4billion is cut from the aid budget, He said US President-elect Joe Biden would view it as a "dismal start" to the UK's G7 leadership and it will "drive a horse and cart" through aid plans.
