He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

The government ‘hopes’ this will be England’s final lockdown, Matt Hancock has declared as ministers start drawing up an exit plan.

Six weeks after England plunged into its third national lockdown, Boris Johnson will today start assembling a roadmap to ease the rules in the coming months.

Schools will be the first to reopen from March 8, while outdoor “recreation” is likely to resume around the same time. Picnics and coffees in the park are still likely to limited to just two people from different households - though children may be exempt.
